SKINS – KNOCKOUT FORMAT (Rules and Regulations)

  • Time trials will be conducted for all 50m events and the TOP 8 fastest swimmers will be shortlisted for the Finals which will be held in SKINS-knockout format. If there are less than 8 swimmers for any reason then we will invite reserve swimmers in order of 9th, 10th, 11th etc. into the event.
  • The format for finals includes 3 races- Round of 8, Round of 5 and Round of 3. This implies that three swimmers will be eliminated after SKINS 1 and two swimmers will be eliminated after SKINS 2. Finally, 3 swimmers will compete in SKIN 3 to arrive at gold, silver and bronze medal positions.
  • The format will run with a 3 minutes start interval between each SKINS. The countdown of 3 minutes will start right from the start of the previous race. A bell will ring exactly after 2 minutes indicating to the swimmer to be ready at the starting block. The Starter will start the race exactly at the end of the 3 minutes countdown.
  • If a swimmer is disqualified for a false start or stroke infringement then he/she will be eliminated and not the slowest swimmer in that race.
  • The referee will determine the slowest swimmers, who are to be eliminated in each round using the official timing system.
  • Swimmers will remain in their original assigned lanes throughout the event other than during the last skin, in which lane numbers 3,4 & 5 will be used.
  • In all matters pertaining to the SKINS event, which are not mentioned above, the Referee’s decision will be final.
